Anti-Blocking Agents

Anti-Blocking Agents

Basic Information

"Blocking" in plastic films refers to the adhesion or interlayer adhesion during production or long-term storage; this issue occurs frequently in highly transparent, thin polyolefin (PE, PP) and polyester (PET) films.
Without effective countermeasures, this interlayer adhesion will trigger a range of defects throughout film production and final application.
Incorporating a small amount of Boruistal silica anti-blocking agent into the film formulation creates surface irregularities—specifically, micro-roughness—which reduces the contact area between film layers and allows air to penetrate between them, thereby lowering adhesion forces and the coefficient of friction.
Furthermore, BORUISTAL silica forms microscopic gaps between film layers, which accelerates the migration of slip & antistatic additives to the film surface.
